The Next Big Thing! :)

Last Friday, March 4, 2011 Classes were suspended because there were no professors so Jen and I decided to finish our experiment since we are going to defend it the next Monday which is technically earlier today. Haha! After the experiment, I have decided to ask Dave to come in with me to church so Dave and I decided to attend Victory U-Belt's Youth Series Service. The theme is called The Next Big Thing.

The service started with singing of Praises with the band and the whole youth in Victory. Ryan Tan is the pastor that night and that night’s preaching is about Embracing God’s Will. He used the Dumb Advices we are getting from friends to further discuss this topic.

Ryan Tan said that everything is being prepared by God in advance; all you have to do is to obey in order to experience it. (God’s will)

3 Dumb Advices

Academic Advice
1.    It’s better to cheat than to repeat.
2.    Bakit ka pa mag- aaral kung babagsak ka din naman?
3.    It’s not what you know, it’s WHO you know.
4.    Lahat tayo makakagraduate hindi lang sabay sabay.

Relational Advice (Friends, family, bf or gf)
1.    Papagalitan ka narin lang sulitin mo na.
2.    Follow your heart.
3.    Don’t worry girl, magbbreak din yan!
4.    If you love someone set her free but only God can make a tree.

Ryan Tan’s dumb advice- experience is the last one. He experienced it during Grade school, high school and college.
Grade school: Pasmado- Every morning he believed that he had to pee on his hands.
High School: He wanted to grow taller- His friend said that stretching is the solution and he has to sleep like a corpse.
College: Single- Habang single pa gawin na ang lahat para walan regrets. And so he smoked, get drunk, did drugs etc. He had hurt many people and did not see God’s will for him.

What is God’s will? God’s will, can sometimes complicate our lives, he said. Like Mary’s pregnancy. It is God’s will that she will get pregnant and many people will get mad and might stoned her to death. Joseph might hate him but after all, she is blessed with a precious and miraculous son.

Ryan Tan after leaving his vices found and believed that God's will for him is for him to be a pastor. It complicated his relationship with his parents because his parents want him to be a professional. They think that his studies will be wasted if he will become a pastor. But now, every time he will preach in their province, his parents are so proud to tell everyone that he is their son.

God reveals his will to us individually. Young people think that God's will is boring. It may not look good at the beginning, just embrace it and you'll find it's real meaning.

3 reasons why we have to embrace God's will.

1.     God knows the future. It's like a 3D movie. When you're not wearing the 3D glasses, you won't be able to see the movie clear. That's us people, we can only see what's in front of us and God is the one wearing the 3D glasses. He can see beyond what our naked eyes could see.
2.    God knows what’s best for us. Like how gadgets change model so fast, you’ll never know if it’s really the best until another new and better version comes. But God, he knows what’s best.
3.    God is merciful. He is merciful that he died for you. Obeying and embracing His will is all that you can do and offer. Offer your all. We are sinners with a core that’s why we need God’s mercy. If you do not have an idea of God’s mercy You cannot embrace God’s will.

And the service ended with a prayer.
